More women across the globe die from breast cancer every year than any other form of cancer. This year alone, an estimated 180,000 new cases will be diagnosed in the United States. The Women’s Center at Vision Imaging of Kingston can help your doctor detect breast cancer early, at a point when it is most curable and breast-conservation therapies are available. We use high-tech digital mammography to detect the warning signs of breast cancer. Digital Mammography provides our patients with the highest level of service possible and, more importantly, the greatest peace of mind. New computer-aided detection (CAD) technology works like a second pair of eyes, reviewing a patient’s mammogram after the radiologist has already made an initial interpretation. If the computer software detects any breast abnormalities, it marks them so the radiologist can again review those areas to determine whether the marked areas are suspicious and require further examination. However, the radiologist still makes the final interpretation of the mammogram. Our Digital Mammography system offers shorter examination times and significantly improved convenience and comfort. Because it is digital, our board-certified radiologists can also view the images more closely, zeroing in on suspicious areas. Results are delivered quicker than ever, too. In fact, patients are given their results in the examination room before they leave. |
